Internship # 14

Choice 2. Post three pictures that show a process at your internship—This could be drafting & revision, how something is done at your internship, how your project was developed, etc.

These were our drafts and blueprints for the lab and it was one of the first things we needed to do. Then once we got the sketches approved, we then made a digital version on a website called creately.

Internship # 13

I was also sick this day and I'll make it up.

Choice 3. Post three pictures represent what is most significant to your experience as an intern.

Internship #12

I was sick today so I'll catch up on this.

Part 1: Documenting collaboration

Post photos of collaboration at your workplace—this may be people working together or the result(s) of people working together.

Part 2: Writing about collaboration

In the course of one typical workday, how many different people do you directly work with? How many people are indirectly affected by your work.

Describe your direct collaboration with others—how does it go & how does it influence the work?

Describe your indirect impact on others through your work—there are probably many people you never actually see who are affected by your work. How does this happen? How does this influence your work?

Feel free to continue writing about collaboration. How might people work differently in your job in the future? How might different resources change the way we work? How might a different manager or mentor want people to work? How would you use collaboration if you were in charge?

Internship #11

Week Summary
So this week went pretty good. A lot of hard work and labor was involved. By today we had to finish placing all the computers into the tables and have them all programed and networked to all the other 36 computers and the master computer. There was a lot more hard work and heavy lifting than I've anticipated, I have definitely worked up some sweat. The teachers were very nice and admired our work ethic and project. The most memorable moment of the week was presenting our computer lab to the teachers during the staff meeting on Wednesday. It was exciting that the whole staff admired our work and gave us their full attention and loved having us there.

Internship # 10

First, post a picture that sums up your day (make sure you get permission for the pic!).

I didn't bring a camera. I will tomorrow.

Second, post a caption in which you use the pic to get into a discussion the following: What new questions has your internship inspired you to ask about our world? What has it made you wonder about? What are you moved to go out and do or learn about on your own time?

Third, post at least five possible questions that you'd like to ask your mentor (or other important coworker) in your upcoming interview. Your questions should be based on yesterday's blog post. If you did not do yesterday's blog post, then you should do it as background for this post.

How did you actively get into social networking?
How did it feel meeting California's Governor?
Do you find it difficult training other teachers harder than students?
How did you discover Kipp Adelante school system?
How do you think technology's going to advance in the next 5 years?

Internship # 9

Mr. Chan is the Director of Educational Technology at KIPP Adelante Prepartory Academy. Internship #8

hoice A: What characteristics and qualities do you see in the people at your internship that you'd like to develop in yourself? Some of these qualities and characteristics could be creativity, empathy, risk-taking, ambitiousness, honesty, fairness, and so on. There are so many qualities and characteristics that people could have, so look around and think of a few good ones that you see in the people you work with.

or....

Choice B: What new appreciations (for who? of what?) have you gained through internship that you did not have before? How did you develop these appreciations?

I have a new appreciation for teachers, contractors, and engineers. Doing the mathematics on graph paper and doing various calculations before doing any other work. Doing math was probably the last thing I'll expect in my internship. But maybe at first I was intimidated by that obstacle and my mind went blank.

Internship #4

What academic skills could you use on the job?
Professionalism skills that our teacher gave us a workshop on. It was really helpful for them toWhat forms of collaboration could you use in a project?
Me and my partner Eliseo will be collaborating in our project together.

1/12/2010

So today my partner Eliseo wasn't here, so I didn't have that extra hand I needed to lift bookshelves, which was on today's to-do list. The heavy bookshelves posed as a giant obstacle for me since the bookshelves were bigger than me. Since the bookshelves were really heavy I had to remove the bookshelves first wiggle the bookshelves around to the desired spot and put back the books. I had to do this is about 8 bookshelves and it was really tedious.

Internship # 3

My project for internship will be building a computer lab in the schools current cafe or its study area. I will be using my current technological skills and experience. This project was perfect for my skill set and I've been using programs like creately to draw blueprints of the design of the laboratory.

Internship #2

What have you actively done to start off on the right note?

What I've done actively around my work site is constantly keeping myself busy with task I need to accomplish everyday. Me and my partner work rigorously and we communicate we each other to get our most creative ideas out.

What have you actively done to create interesting opportunities for yourself?
Communicating with others around my work site makes me feel more involved in my internship, and talking with the students makes me aware of out I'm working with.

What have you actively done to advance the interests of your mentor and/or site?

I've sent my mentor my digital portfolio and my blog. My mentor thought that it was awesome that I had access to all of these, and had me present both of them to his classes.

What can you do in the immediate future to improve yourself and your experience in the above areas?

What I can do in the immediate future to improve myself is to get more sleep at night. During midday I get really tired and groggy a few hours after I eat my lunch. It is important that I be alert and prepared the whole day.

Internship #1

Today i woke up 5:59 a.m. The night before I already picked out what I am going to wear and made sure it was business casual and professional. I walked over to my kitchen and prepared my healthy breakfast that will keep me going for the whole day. I had toast with nutella and a glass of milk. Brushed my teeth and shaved in the bathroom, and then I went to my room to dress up. I remember spending a good 6 minutes debating on which dress socks I would wear. The ones I choose were soft, black, and had a few dots designed on the side. I left home at 6:32 and hopped on inside my green Dodge Caravan. It took me roughly 12 minutes to arrive at my internship site at downtown 6th ave. When I parked my car I saw Lupe walking down the street arrive at the same site as me. When the doors to the school opened I was greeted by my mentor Mr. Howard Chan. He told that normal I would call him by his first name but since it's in a school environment I'll address him as Mr. Chan. He then gave me a brief tour of the school, while we were casually talking about what I would like to get out of this experience. We then walked down stairs into the computer lab, where I would be working at. He gave me a computer to check out what projects they already accomplished in past years in his website.
Numerous times I was stared at by students and giving me awkward looks, but it was okay since in my school many visitors walk the halls of my school. Then the first period class of MC tech arrived and filled up all the computer spaces. I introduced myself to the class and I guess everyone looked happy that I was there. Some of the software that the kids use was really cool and its cool that the kids have a basic knowledge of technology and knowing what to do.

This is my mentor. I was worried that I was over dressed, but the workplace was relaxed and the teachers and staff there wore attire like in our school.
